Natascha
Natascha von Steiger was born in Switzerland. She studied stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and worked as an assistant to Professor Erich Wonder at the Zurich Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival and the Metropolitan Opera in New York (with Ruth Berghaus, Jürgen Flimm, Daniel Schmid, Peter Mussbach, among others). Since 1996 she has been a freelance stage designer for drama, musical theatre and dance in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She has worked with Benedikt von Peter, Armin Petras, Sebastian Baumgarten, Hanna Müller, Jorinde Dröse, Cornelia Crombholz, Christiane Pohle, Dominic Friedel, Peter Kastenmüller, Hans Neuenfels, Bruno Cathomas, Wouter van Looy, Georg Reischl and Be van Vark, among others. In 2011, she was nominated for the German theatre prize 'DER FAUST' for her stage design for 'Das Erdbeben in Chili', directed by Armin Petras. Under the directorship of Armin Petras, she was responsible for set design at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin from 2008-13 and at Schauspiel Stuttgart from 2013-2016. After 'Les Dialogues des Carmélites' (2009), 'Parsifal' (2011), 'Pension Schöller' (2012) and 'Matthäuspassion' (2022), she is designing the set for the 'Ring des Nibelungen' at Theater Basel.
