Elmira Bahrami studied acting at the Folkwang University of the Arts. Since then she has worked at the Maxim Gorki Theater, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Schauspiel Köln. Her roles have included Gretchen in ‹Faust›, Medea in ‹Mamma Medea›, Alexei Ivanovich in ‹Der Spieler› and the role of the Woman in ‹Yazdgerds Tod› by Bahman Beyzaie. In addition to her work with directors such as Antú Romero Nunes, Manuela Infante, Jörg Pohl, Pınar Karabulut, Mina Salehpour and Rocko Schamoni, she also develops her own freelance projects and acts in front of the camera for various cinema and television productions. She has appeared several times in ‹Tatort› and was invited to the Berlinale and Sundance Film Festival with the feature film ‹Berlin Syndrome› by Cate Shortland. Elmira Bahrami has been a permanent member of the Theater Basel ensemble since the 20/21 season.
