Sarah Marie
Sarah Marie Kramer is increasingly establishing herself as one of the up-and-coming young, highly dramatic sopranos. Her successful debut as Sieglinde ('Die Walküre', Longborough Festival Opera) in 2021 clearly marked her path into the great Wagnerian field. Her repertoire includes Freya, Gerhilde, Helmwige, Brünnhilde ('Siegfried'), 3rd Norn, Gutrune, Isolde, Elisabeth, Chrysothemis, Prima Donna ('Ariadne') and Stranger Princess ('Rusalka'). In 2023 she was invited by the Semperoper to sing Helmwige ('Die Walküre') in the revival of Willy Decker's 'Ring' cycle. She will make her concert debut at the Richard Strauss Tage 2023 with Strauss' 'Vier letzte Lieder'. She has sung under the direction of Christian Thielemann, Elias Grandy, Richard Egarr, Masaaki Suzuki, Anthony Negus and Thomas Rösner, among others. Her international festival appearances include the Richard Strauss Tage, Longborough Festival Opera, Aldeburgh Festival and the Oxford Lieder Festival. At the Bayreuth Festival, she was one of four singers selected for the Master Class. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague, Netherlands and is a graduate of the DNOA Amsterdam Opera Certificate. She was a finalist at the prestigious Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition for Young Wagnerians and at the International Richard Strauss Competition in Munich. At Theater Basel she can be heard in the 'Ring des Nibelungen' as the Third Norn as well as Gerhilde.
