A musical portrait

Mezzo-soprano Rachael Wilson is one of the most interesting and versatile singers of her generation. She is currently enjoying great success as Carmen at Theater Basel. Inspired by Bizet's masterpiece, she has conceived a thematic song recital. In her programme, she traces the musical and literary worlds surrounding 'Carmen' and its themes such as seduction, love, jealousy and death. The result is an evening that is as unconventional as it is moving, with works by Maurice Ravel, Georges Bizet, Leoš Janáček, Nadja Boulanger, Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla. He invites the audience to a personal encounter with an extraordinary artist.
