Stefanie Pechtl has been an ensemble member of Ballett Theater Basel since the season 19/20. She has performed in choreographies by Richard Wherlock, Alexander Ekman, Jeroen Verbruggen, Johan Inger, Hofesh Shechter and Sharon Eyal. In the season 22/23, she is part of Martin Zimmermann's family piece ‹Ciao Ciao›, among others.
Born in Steiermark, Austria, Stefanie received her training in classical dance at the ballet school at Wiener Staatsoper while also dancing intermittently in the corps de ballet at Wiener Staatsoper. She had permanent engagements as a dancer with the following companies: 2008 - 2011 with the Györi Ballet (Hungary), 2014 - 2016 with the Tanztheaterensemble Landestheater Linz, 2016 - 2019 with the Ballet of the Staatstheater Nürnberg. During these engagements, she danced in choreographies by Christian Spuck, William Forsythe, Mauro Bigonzetti, Marco Goecke and Jirí Kylián, among others. She also created her own choreographies and was part of choreographic collaborations with the acting department at Staatstheater Nürnberg, at Theater Basel and Kunstmuseum Basel.
In 2012 she started to study Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University in Vienna and continued her studies at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance and Dance Education in 2015. Since March 2022, Stefanie has been studying Dance Science in the MAS programme at the Sport Science Institute of the University Bern.
