Tenor Stuart Jackson was a choral student at Christ Church, Oxford and studied life sciences before graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 2013. He won prizes at the Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Singing Competition and the Hugo Wolf International Song Competition in Stuttgart and has since given recitals for the BBC, at Wigmore Hall, the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Albertina Musiksaal in Vienna. Future engagements include Jupiter in Handel's 'Semele' for Opéra de Lille, Komische Oper Berlin and Glyndebourne; a revival of Monteverdi's 'L'incoronazione di Poppea' at the Aix-en-Provence Festival at the Palais de Versailles; Britten's 'War Requiem' with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra; 'Messiah' at the Barbican with the Academy of Ancient Music and the Mozart Requiem with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist he will make his debut at the Hohenems Schubertiade in Austria and return to Wigmore Hall and the Oxford Lieder Festival. Recent highlights include the Evangelist in Bach's 'St Matthew Passion' at the 2021 BBC Proms and Mozart's 'Mitridate, re di Ponto' at the Royal Danish Opera in the same year. He made his English National Opera debut in Narraboth ('Salome') and sang Handel's 'Saul' for the Glyndebourne Tour, Glyndebourne Festival and Châtelêt, Paris. He is engaged at Theater Basel in 2023/24 for 'L'incoronazione di Poppea'.
