Sophie Flannery Prune Vergeres

Sophie Flannery Prune Vergères is a native of Switzerland, born in San Francisco. She received her professional dance training at The School of the Hamburg Ballet and began to dance professionally with John Neumeier as a dancer with the Hamburg Ballet, followed by an engagement at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. She has worked both freelance and as a permanent ensemble member. Sophie has been a guest dancer with companies such as Bühnen Bern (formerly known as Konzert Theater Bern), the Opera Graz and has danced with freelance groups such as Art of Spectra, Steptext and collaborated with visual artist Leiko Ikemura for the Kunstmuseum Basel. She is a co-founder of the collective 52°07, creates her own dance productions and collaborates frequently with filmmaker Bowie Verschuuren. In the summer of 2023, she completed the master's program Expanded Theater at the Bern University of the Arts. During this time, she also gained her first experience as an actress in film, working with Swiss director Gitta Gsell and Magnus Langset, among others. Over the years Sophie has danced in works by choreographers such as Alexander Ekman, Marco Goecke, Sharon Eyal, Edward Clug, Peter Svenzon, Vaslav Kunes, Adonis Foniadakis, Itzik Galili, John Neumeier and Richard Sigal.
