Sophie Flannery Prune Vergères a bilingual Swiss native and was born in San Francisco. She received her professional dance training at the ballet school of Hamburg Ballet (DE). Her career began with John Neumeier as a dancer with the Hamburg Ballet, followed by a contract at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden (DE). Sophie worked both freelance and as a permanent company member. She has been a guest dancer with companies such as Konzert Theater Bern (CH), Oper Graz (A) and has danced with independent groups such as Art of Spectra, Focus Dance (SE), Steptext (DE) as well as with the visual artist Leiko Ikemura (JP). She is co-founder of the group Kollektiv 52°07 (CH/DE). Since 2020, she has been studying part-time at the Hochschule der Künste Bern in the Master programme Expanded Theatre. During this time, she also gained her first experience as an actress in film. She also works as a production manager and creates her own choreographic works. Over the years Sophie has danced in works by choreographers such as Alexander Ekman, Marco Goecke, Sharon Eyal, Edward Clug, Peter Svenzon, Vaslav Kunes, Itzik Galili, John Neumeier and Richard Sigal. She has been a dancer with Ballett Theater Basel since August 2022.
