Pablo Gīw was born in Cologne in 1988. He is a musician, performer and improviser. His work includes experimental urban music, dark jazz, noise and ambient music, performance and stage music for theatre and dance. The diverse nature of his musical work led to the solo album 'Never is Always', which he released in 2017. With the Berlin-based performer and dancer Kelvin Kilonzo, he forms the project SUM, which works both as a performance duo and as a multidisciplinary platform for film and media art. Together with media artist Maurits Boettger, SUM created the film 'Dyschronia', which premiered at the Julia Stoschek Foundation Berlin in 2023.
Gīw founded the ecstatic noise quartet Stellar Banger with Abed Kobeissy, Ali Hout and Joss Turnbull and released the album 'Data is' on the Beirut label ruptured records in 2021. He released the duo album 'Kryo' with New York cellist and improviser Mariel Roberts in 2023. Other collaborations include the Free Quartet with Belgian bassist Farida Amadou, Mariel Roberts and singer Laura Totenhagen. Also the duo Granular Epic with trumpeter Brad Henkel.
As a solo musician at Schauspiel Köln, Gīw recently composed and performed the music for the productions 'König Lear' and 'Früchte des Zorns' directed by Rafael Sanchez. Pablo Gīw was supported by the NICA artist development programme of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2019 to 2023.
