Mason Manning was born in Dallas, Texas, and is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. During his training he received an award from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts/Young Arts, one of the highest honours in modern dance. He studied dance at the Juilliard School in New York City under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes. There he danced in works by Crystal Pite, Jiří Kylián, Aszure Barton, Jose Limon, Richard Alston and other renowned choreographers. Mason received his first permanent engagement in Germany in 2018 at the Ballett im Revier Gelsenkirchen under the artistic direction of Bridget Breiner. Mason then danced with the Richard Siegal/Ballet of Difference company at Schauspiel Köln from 2019 to 2022. There, Mason was nominated as 'Dancer of the Year' by Tanz-Magazin and received a Faust nomination in the 'Best Dance Performance' category. Mason's own choreographic works have been performed at Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the International Choreography Competition in Copenhagen. Today he works as a freelance artist at various theatres in Europe as a performer, dancer and choreographer, and dances with the international ensemble La Fleur BB under the direction of Monika Gintersdorfer. Mason also works as an art and dance creator in stage and installation performances.
