Lennard
Lennard Fiehn, born in 1997, lives in Basel and is a saxophonist, clarinettist and composer. His music is characterised by the traditional North American music of the 60s and 70s, in particular the music of Joe Henderson. His research into the concepts of musical expression led him into the modern jazz genre. He dedicates the project 'no shadow without light (N.S.W.L.)' to his research. He is also the founder of the electro-acoustic band Thrrr. In addition to his work as a bandleader, he is part of various formations such as still videogame, FORK, Gapp/Fiehn/Obleser/Kaltenbach and others and performs regularly as a sideman, duo or solo.
He grew up in the Black Forest and completed his bachelor's degree at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts in 2020 with Prof Christian Weidner and two years later completed his master's degree at the Jazzcampus Basel with Prof Domenic Landolf, Prof Mark Turner, Prof Ambrose Akinmusire and Prof Guillermo Klein. Through his friends and teachers, he played concerts with Mark Turner, Domenic Landolf, Jorge Rossy, Bert Joris, Niels Klein, Ed Partyka, Rainer Tempel, Ronny Graupe, Elias Stemeseder and Katrin Pechlof. Performances have taken him to Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway, India and Switzerland. In the 23/24 season he is part of the band of 'Die Dreigroschenoper'.
