Ariane Koch

Ariane Koch, who was born in Basel in 1988, studied Fine Arts, Interdisciplinarity and a few semesters of Philosophy and Theatre Studies in Basel and Bern. She writes theatre, performance and prose texts – often in collaboration with other artists. Ariane has been awarded several work grants such as the Dramenprozessor, a house authorship at Luzerner Theater, residency scholarships at the Literary Colloquium in Berlin and the Cité internationale des Arts in Paris, as well as an artist grant from the Landis & Gyr Foundation in London. For her first novel, ‹Die Aufdrängung›, which is currently being translated into seven languages, she has won various awards, including the ZDF 2021 aspekte literature prize. Her play ‹Die toten Freunde (Dinosauriermonologe)› received the First Else Lasker-Schüler-Stückepreis 2022.

She will be the author-in-residence at Theater Basel throughout the 2022/23 season.
