Anastasios Sofroniou, a Greek fashion entrepreneur, lecturer and costume designer, was born in Germany and now lives in Paris. He started his career as a fashion editor in Athens. In the mid-90s, he moved to London where he worked exclusively with the world-renowned British fashion icon, Isabella Blow, as well as with famous photographers, such as Richard Alvedon, David La Chapelle and Mario Testino, and for various magazines, like The Face, Surface, Interview US, British GQ, Sunday Times Style and Elle. In 2010, he launched his own contemporary brand ‹Conquistador Menswear› and in 2012 founded his creative and brand consulting agency ‹Mesvor Consulting Ltd›. At the same time, he started teaching PhD courses in Fashion Marketing, Fashion Communication, Consumer Behaviour, Social Media and Trend Forecasting. In 2011, his passion for costume design was awakened by his acquaintance with the Greek choreographer Andonis Foniadakis, who is also based in Paris. Since then, he has worked for renowned contemporary dance companies and opera houses, including Martha Graham Dance Company, Cedar Lake NY, Geneva Opera, Florence Opera, Sydney Dance Company, CCN Ballet De Laurenne, Rambert Dance London, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and the Athens International Dance Festival. At Theater Basel, his costume designs can be seen in the 2022/23 season as part of the double bill evening ‹Explosiv!› in the latest creation choreographed by Andonis Foniadakis.
