Valentina Dubrovina was born in Russia in 1992. She began playing the piano at the age of five and the cello at eight. In 2001, she entered the music school of the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Professor Mark Reisenshtock. From 2010 to 2014 she studied at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. From 2014 to 2021 Valentina completed her Master Performance, Master Soloist, School of Excellence at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with Professor Ivan Monighetti and his assistant Sol Gabetta and a Master in Advanced Music Pedagogy and CAS Music Physiology at the Zurich University of the Arts. She actively participates in master classes with David Geringas, Martti Rousi, Ivan Monighetti, Alexander Rudin, Andras Schiff and at the Kronberg Academy. She was also a scholarship holder at the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and participated in the intensive weeks there. Valentina won several competitions. Among others, she won the third prize at the Davydov Cello Competition, the prize at the competition of the Basler Orchester Gesellschaft Foundation, the first prize at the National Competition in Moscow and the first prize together with Varga Trio at the Danubia Talents Music Competition. Valentina has played concerts in Russia, Switzerland, Germany, France and the Netherlands (Cello Biennale). She participates in various orchestral projects such as the Lugano Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Camerata Basilea, Schaffhausen Sinfonietta, Zakhar Bron Chamber Orchestra and others.
