Thomas Meadowcroft is a freelance Australian composer and musician who has lived in Berlin since 1998. He has worked with various orchestras and ensembles including SWR Big Band and Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Mädchenchor der Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, Speak Percussion Melbourne and the New York ensemble Yarn/Wire. As a performer he has appeared at various festivals and series, including Issue Project Room, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Pavilion of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. From 1994 to 1998 he studied composition in the US with George Crumb. In 2013, 2016 and 2021 he produced a series of radio pieces on aspects of Australian regional culture for Deutschlandfunk Kultur and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. In 2015 he developed the orchestration and arrangements for the opera 'Von einem der auszog, weil er sich die Miete nicht mehr leisten konnte' by René Pollesch and Dirk von Lowtzow, which premiered at Volksbühne Berlin the same year. At the Theater Basel he is involved in 'Pferd frisst Hut' in the 23/24 season.
