Owen Willetts

Countertenor Owen Willetts was a choral student at Lichfield Cathedral and studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Noelle Barker, Iain Leadingham and David Lowe. His current engagements include Vitaliano in Giovanni Legrenzi's 'Giustino' (Pinchgut Opera) and Castle Crow in John Abrahamsen's 'The Snow Queen' (Bayerische Staatsoper and Councertgebouw Amsterdam). Past engagements include the title role in 'Orlando' (Handel Festival Halle and Staatstheater Darmstadt), Tolomeo in 'Giulio Cesare' (Theater Bonn), the title role in 'Giulio Cesare' (Finnish National Opera), Orfeo in 'Orfeo ed Euridice' (Boston Baroque) and Trinculo in 'The Tempest' (Teatro alla Scala). He sang Farinelli at the Duke of York's Theatre and has been a guest of the Birmingham Opera Company, Heilbronn Theatre, Buxton Festival, National Rice Opera, Opera Queensland and Virginia Opera. In concert Owen has performed with Les Musicians de Louvre, the Telemann Chamber Orchestra, the Vancouver Early Music Festival, the Ulster Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Coro e Orquestra Gulbenkian and the Lautten Compagney Berlin, among others. He has worked with Laurence Cummings, Christian Curnyn, Emmanuelle Haim, Marc Minkowsi, Martin Pearlman, Howard Arman and Raphael Pichon, and will appear as Ottone in 'L'incoronazione di Poppea' at Theater Basel in the 23/24 season.
