Willi Chairman of the Board of Directors

Michael Willi was born in Basel, attended school in Basel and Riehen and studied economics at the University of Basel. He is married and has three grown-up sons. From June 2014 to December 2023, Michael Willi was Chief Communications Officer of Novartis and headed the Communications & Advocacy organisation with up to 700 employees in forty countries. Prior to that, he was Head of Communications at UBS and worked in New York and Zurich. After many years in management and executive positions, he now contributes his experience and knowledge in strategic consulting for institutions and personalities in business, politics and culture. Michael Willi is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Basel Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Beyeler Foundation. He is also involved in the Groove Now association, which organises the Groove Now Blues Weeks in Basel. Since the 19/20 season, he has been President of the Board of Directors of Theatergenossenschaft Basel.
