Meinrad Morger, born in Appenzell in 1957, grew up in St. Gallen. After an apprenticeship as a structural draughtsman, he studied architecture at the HTL Winterthur and the ETH Zurich. Meinrad Morger subsequently worked for Michael Alder in Basel, Metron in Brugg and as an assistant at ETH Zurich. He moved to Basel in 1984. Since 1988, he has worked as an independent architect under the names Morger & Degelo and Morger + Dettli. In 2015, the office was renamed Morger Partner Architekten and continued with partners Henning König and Martin Klein and around 60 employees in Basel and Frankfurt. After guest lectureships at EPF Lausanne and ETH Zurich and professorships at RWTH Aachen University and TU Darmstadt, Meinrad Morger has been a full professor of architecture at KIT in Karlsruhe since 2017. He was also a member of the commission for the Kunsthalle Basel art association from 1996 to 2001 and a member of the Basel Monument Council from 2001 to 2011. He is President of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Architecture Museum (S AM) and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Basel Theatre Cooperative since the 17/18 season. Meinrad Morger is married and has one grown-up son.
