Max
Max Zachrisson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden and started his professional training at the age of eleven at the Swedish Ballet School. After taking a break from dancing to study music, he finished his education at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm as a classical ballet dancer. He started his professional dance career in Theater Dortmund and after 8 years of working for Ballet Staatstheater Nürnberg he joined Ballet Basel in 2016. In these companies he danced in pieces from choreographers such as Mats Ek, Crystal Pite, Johan Inger, Alexander Ekman, Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Christian Spuck, Stijn Celis, Richard Wherlock, Ohad Naharin, Goyo Montero, Bryan Arias, Jiří Pokorný, William Forsythe, Douglas Lee, Cayetano SotoMauro Bigonzetti and many others. As a dancer Max has been awarded with the Bavarian Cultural Prize 2013, the Wolfram von Eschenbach Cultural Prize 2016 and nominated for the german theatre prize Der Faust 2016.
He is the founder of Max Zachrisson Productions and is also active as a choreographer, composer and videographer and has as in the case of Theater Basel choreographed the piece ‹Cheap Glitter› for DanceLab 8, composed music for Richard Wherlock’s piece ‹Don’t Tell the Kids› and made numerous trailers and videos for Ballett Theater Basel.
