Martin Schütz

The musician Martin Schütz works as an improviser and composer with electric and acoustic cello and electronic means. He lives in Biel/Bienne and is active in the city's extremely lively music scene. Until 2017 he was a member of the legendary trio 'koch-schütz- studer'. He has been moving around the international scene of improvised music as an improvising cellist for many years. As a composer and live musician, he has appeared in theatre with directors such as Christoph Marthaler, Luc Bondy, Christoph Frick and others, and has worked regularly at the Theater Basel.
He also writes and produces music for radio plays, dance and film. In 2004 he received the Culture Prize of the City of Biel/Bienne and in 2011 the Music Prize of the Canton of Bern. He has worked as a curator for the 'Ear we are' festival in Biel and the Musikfestival Bern. His web label has been online since 2018.
