Lydia Caruso was born in Milazzo, Italy. She studied classical and contemporary dance at ESDC Rosella Hightower in Cannes, France. After graduating, she attended the Ecole-atelier Rudra Béjart, where she interpreted Maurice Béjart's repertoire. In 2008, she joined the Compagnie des Ballets du Grand Théâtre de Genève, then danced for the LaMov Company in Zaragoza. In 2012, she became a member of Ballet Basel under the artistic direction of Richard Wherlock. Throughout her career, she has danced in choreographies by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Benjamin Millepied, Itzik Galili, Richard Wherlock, Alexander Ekman, Stephan Thoss, Stijn Celis, Johan Inger, Hofesh Shechter, Bryan Arias, Jiří Pokorný, and Martin Zimmermann. Lydia Caruso was accepted into the newly formed Ballet Basel company by Marco Goecke in the summer of 2025.
