Jin Young Won is from Seoul, South Korea. She graduated SunHwa Arts School in Seoul, Korea and won 5th prize and contemporary prize in Prix de Lausanne 2005. That same year, she was offered to join NDT 2 as an apprentice followed by dancing as a member with the Ballett Basel, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Company and Saarländisches Staatstheater. She has performed works by Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Crystal Pite, Jo Strømgen, Emanuel Gat, Johan Inger, Alexander Ekman, Stijn Celis, Marco Goecke, Hans van Manen, Hofesh Shechter, Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, Mauro Bigonzetti, Angelin Preljocaj, Rami Beʼer, Richard Siegal, Richard Wherlock and Andonis Foniadakis. Jin continued her dance career as a freelance artist in 2017 and collaborated with Roderick Goerge, Jill Corvisier, Richard Siegal, Fabien Prioville, Diego Tortelli, Karel Van Laere, OFFproject - Amos Ben-tal, Human Field, and Felix Landerer. She started dancing with the Emanuel Gat dance company in 2020 and rejoined Ballett Basel in August 2023. Jin shares a deep passion for giving workshops that center the body and mind connection, awareness improvisation and repertoire and has taught worldwide, in Korea, Russia, Israel, and other countries.
