Hajo Schüler

Hajo Schüler is an actor, director, make-up artist and teacher living in Berlin. Born in Hammelburg, he studied performing arts at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen from 1990 to 1995. Since 1994 he has worked as an actor, choreographer and director at the Teatro dell' Opera di Roma, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Burgtheater Wien, Oper Frankfurt, Centro Cultural Recoleta Buenos Aires and Ballhaus Ost. In the 1990s he began designing masks and was a co-founder of the group 'Familie Flöz'. Together with Michael Vogel, he has been artistic director and co-author ever since. To date, Flöz plays have been performed in 43 countries. Festival appearances include the Zürcher Theaterspektakel, the London International Mime Festival, the Festival Ibéroamericano de Teatro Bogotá, the Festival de Otoño Madrid, the Israel Festival, the Spring Festival Thessaloniki and the Adelaide Festival. From 2005 to 2010 Hajo Schüler was a permanent member of the acting faculty at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, taught make-up and acting at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich and at the Staatliche Hochschule für Darstellende Kunst und Musik Stuttgart. A selection of awards includes the Prix Spécial de la Jury Festival Mimos, Off Critics Award Avignon, Audience Award Festival Almada Lisbon, Audience Award euro-scene Leipzig, Grand Prix de la Jury Festival Angers as well as the Monica Bleibtreu Award for Best Comedy.
