Born 1960 in Grub/Appenzell. Composer, pianist, theatre maker, author of landscape-related works. Piano studies, development of free theatre groups, street theatre with wagon stage and horses, theatre studies in Paris and London. Composition studies with Nicolaus A. Huber and Klaus Huber. Work as composer, pianist, innovator in the field of new music theatre, interdisciplinary and situational. Founder of the festival 'neue musik rümlingen'. Ten years teaching experimental music in Berlin. Music theatre for the Staatsoper Stuttgart , the Theater Bielefeld, for the Donaueschinger Musiktage and the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, among others. Situational works for the Expo Hannover (music for the Swiss Pavilion by Peter Zumthor), for the Museum für Moderne Kunst MMK Frankfurt am Main, the Festival Alpentöne/Altdorf and the Wasserturm Berlin/Prenzlauer Berg. Landscape compositions for the Hafen Sassnitz/Rügen, the pilgrimage site Heiligkreuz/Entlebuch, the Neisse between Görlitz and Zgorzelec, the Rheinhafen Basel, the Elbe near Hitzacker and the Ruhr near Witten, the Berlin Westhafen. Since 2005 professor of composition and experimental music theatre at the Universität der Künste Berlin; since 2015 member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin. Together with Manos Tsangaris, artistic director of the Münchener Biennale – Festival für neues Musiktheater. At Theater Basel he is engaged as composer in the season 23/24 in 'Unter dem Meer' by Hajo Schüler.
