Alexander Wolf, born in 1963, studied stage design at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee under Professor Volker Pfüller. This was followed by assistantships with the directors Ruth Berghaus and Frank Castorf. Engagements as a stage and costume designer have taken Wolf to the Volksbühne Berlin, the Berliner Ensemble, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Maxim Gorki Theatre, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Schauspiel Leipzig, the Staatstheater Hannover, the Residenztheater Munich, the Staatstheater Mainz, the Theater Neumarkt in Zurich, the Thèâtre National de Chaillot Paris and the Salzburg Festival. Here he worked with directors such as Barbara Weber, Sebastian Baumgarten, Peter Kastenmüller, Sascha Havemann, Christian Friedel, Christoph Frick and Thomas Langhoff. Wolf also designed the set for Julian Rosefeldt's 2014 film 'Deep Gold' and was responsible for the construction of Rosenfeldt's installation 'Midwest' at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg. In the 23/24 season, he is designing the stage and costumes for the production 'Das Leben ist unaufhaltsam'.
