Macras Staging

Constanza Macras was born in Buenos Aires, where she studied dance and fashion design. She continued her dance studies in Amsterdam and New York. In 2003 she founded her dance company Constanza Macras | DorkyPark. DorkyPark sees itself as an interdisciplinary ensemble with dance, text, live music and film and works with various state theatres such as the Schaubühne Berlin and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus as well as independent theatres such as the HAU. Since the beginning of the 2021 season, Macras and her company have been residing at the Volksbühne Berlin. More than 25 pieces have been performed at festivals such as the Festival d'Avignon, the Wiener Festwochen, the Seoul Performing Arts Festival, the Attakalari-India Biennial and the Dance Umbrella Festival. In 2008 she was awarded the Goethe-Institut Prize for her play 'Hell on Earth'. In the same year, she received the German theatre prize 'Der Faust' for her choreography in 'Megalopolis'. Having already received the 'Arts at MIT William L. Abramowitz Residency' at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2010, she developed another piece there in 2020. She has also developed choreography for film and television, including the award-winning film 'The Favorite' by Yorgos Lanthimos. In 2021 she received the Tabori Prize. She also receives numerous commissions for national and international theatres, including the Goteborg Dance Company of the Gothenburg Opera House or the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and gives master classes all over the world.
