Hannes Francke studied cinematography in Berlin until 2014 and initially assisted the video artists Meika Dresenkamp and especially Ute Schall on various theatre productions, with whom he later developed an ongoing collaboration. This was followed by engagements as a video artist and cameraman at various theatres such as the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Schauspielhaus Zürich and the Volksbühne Berlin. There he worked with directors such as Karin Henkel, Stefan Pucher and René Pollesch. Hannes Francke will make a guest appearance with the video work for the production 'The 10 Commandments' (director: Karin Henkel) at the Schiffbau in Zurich. In 2019, an adaptation of Ligeti's opera 'Le Grand Macabre' (director: Doug Fitch, conductor: Alan Gilbert, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester) will be produced at the Elbphilharmonie, for which he is responsible for the live video and, as with 'forecast:ödipus' (director: Stefan Pucher), will also be on stage at the Stuttgart theatre (director: Stefan Pucher). In addition to his work at the theatre, Hannes Francke makes experimental films, music videos and documentaries and works as a cameraman for international film productions.
