Ubenauf Dramaturgy

Malte Ubenauf first worked as a director before joining Christoph Marthaler at the Zurich Schauspielhaus as a dramaturge in 2003. He then worked with Frank Castorf at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and at Thalia Theater Hamburg. Since 2005 he has worked mainly as a freelance dramaturge for drama and musical theatre. He has accompanied productions by Karin Henkel, Christopher Rüping, Christiane Pohle, Stefan Pucher, Luk Perceval, Armin Petras and others, and works continuously with Christoph Marthaler, Anna Viebrock and the Berlin opera company Novoflot. His theatre work has taken him to the Teatro Real Madrid, Opernhaus Zürich, Opéra National de Paris, Theater Basel, Kunstenfestival Brussels, Salzburger Festspiele, Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Bayreuther Festspiele, Ruhrtriennale, HAU Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Hamburger Staatsoper, Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, Münchner Kammerspiele, Vlaamse Opera and Festival d'Avignon. Numerous productions supervised by Ubenauf have been invited to renowned festivals, including the Berliner Theatertreffen, the Wiener Festwochen and the Festival d'Automne in Paris. He has taught at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, the Hamburg University of the Arts, the Dresden University of the Arts and the University of Zurich.
