Klaus Brömmelmeier, born in 1971, worked as an actor at the Theater Freiburg i. Breisgau from 1997 to 2000 after studying acting at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. In 1999 he received the German Intendant Award for his portrayal of Hamlet (directed by Michael Thalheimer). From 2000 to 2007 and from 2019 to 2020 he was a member of the ensemble at Theater Basel and from 2009 to 2019 he was an ensemble member at Schauspielhaus Zürich. Guest engagements have taken him to the Theater Bern, the Residenztheater München, the Ruhrtriennale in Bochum and the Burgtheater Wien, among others. In addition to his full-time work as an actor, he frequently directs his own projects in the fields of theatre and music. He can be heard regularly as a speaker on the radio and is engaged as an actor in film and television. He regularly works as a lecturer and coach at the Bern University of the Arts and at the annual Liedakademie 'LiedBasel' since 2020. Klaus Brömmelmeier lives with his family in Basel.
