Daniela Holtz is an actress, author and screenwriter. After studying acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, she joined Schauspiel Leipzig. She then worked at the Deutsches Theater and the Schaubühne in Berlin, where she worked with directors such as Enrico Lübbe, Thomas Ostermeier, Armin Petras and Rafael Sanchez. She has appeared in numerous cinema and television productions directed by Maren Ade, Edward Berger and Christian Petzold, including 'Der Wald vor lauter Bäumen', 'Sommer in Orange', 'Phoenix', 'Pelikanblut' and 'Tatort'. Internationally, she shot the British series 'Victoria', which was broadcast worldwide, with directors such as Jim Loach, Tom Vaughan and Geoffrey Sax.
She works as a coach and mentor for directors, actors and international film productions. As an author, she focusses on questions of aesthetic practice and gender representation on stage and in front of the camera. She is the chair of the Elke Twiesselmann Prize, the first prize for young actresses in Germany. She has held teaching positions at the ZHdK in Zurich, the Ernst Busch Hochschule Berlin and the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp. In 2017, Daniela Holtz was appointed full professor for practical theatre work at the Folkwang University of the Arts. In the 23/24 season, she is providing artistic and dramaturgical support for the production 'Kim' at Theater Basel.
