Anja
Anja Lisa Adam, was born in Upper Bavaria in 1988. She studied musicology and music education with piano as her main subject, as well as grammar school teaching with history, geography and English/American studies at the universities of Erlangen, Munich and Würzburg. 2008 first encounter with the field of cultural education in the team of the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle Hamburg. Love at first sight. In the following years she worked as a mediator and project manager at the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt (scholarship holder of the International Ensemble Modern Academy), the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, Mozartfest Würzburg, Carnegie Hall in New York, Stiftung Mercator Switzerland and at the Theater Basel. Since then, numerous participatory projects with Bill Forsythe, Jörg Widmann, Dai Fujikura, Marius Felix Lange, Tom Ryser and others. She also works as a freelance cultural manager and lecturer, for example at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW, the Hochschule für Musik Luzern and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
Anja Adam has been at Theater Basel since the 2015/2016 season. Initially as a music theatre pedagogue and dramaturge (including 'Der Kaiser von Atlantis', 'Die drei Räuber', world premieres of 'Der Goldkäfer' and 'Schellen-Ursli'). Since 2018, she has been instrumental in developing the fundamental opening of Theater Basel through the launch of the Foyer Public as well as other projects. Since the 2022/2023 season, she has been co-director of the Theatre Public division and a member of the theatre management.
