Hubert Wild was born in Karlsruhe. In addition to a few semesters of violin and piano, he studied singing with Rudolf Bautz in Aachen and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin. His first engagements took him to theatres in Aachen, Stralsund/Greifswald and Heidelberg, among others, before he became a permanent ensemble member of the Landestheater Salzburg in 2009. He has worked at numerous European theatres and opera houses, including the Berliner Staatsoper, the Theater Bern and Opernhaus Zürich, and has performed at renowned festivals and concert halls throughout Europe. For example, he interpreted Orfeo in Susanne Kennedy's adaptation of Monteverdi at the Ruhrtriennale and the Berliner Festspiele. He won prizes at the International Singing Competition Toti dal Monte in Treviso/Italy, the International Singing Competition of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and the 13th International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, among others. He is in demand as a baritone as well as a countertenor, in modern and classical music theatre works as well as a soloist in oratorios or as a Lied interpreter. Since his first collaboration with Herbert Fritsch at the Theater Bremen as Falsacappa in Offenbach's 'Die Banditen', he has appeared regularly in drama productions, including at the Volksbühne and Schaubühne in Berlin, the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Burgtheater Wien and Schauspiel Leipzig as well as the Staatstheater Braunschweig. At Theater Basel he has already appeared in 'Intermezzo', 'Die Nase' and 'Vergeigt', among others, and is involved here in 2023/24 in 'Pferd frisst Hut'.
