Quarmby Spadaccini Costume design

Rachel Quarmby-Spadaccini was born in England and studied Constructed Textiles at the Manchester College of Art, receiving a BA Honours Degree. Her early career was in sculpture installations for public buildings, before moving to France in 1992 and beginning a career in costume design. Rachel has since designed costumes for ballet and contemporary dance for dance institutions worldwide, as well as for commercials and feature films, such as the recent science fiction film ‹Big Bug› by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Her costumes can be experienced at Theater Basel in the 2022/23 season in the ballet performance of ‹Giselle› by Pontus Lidberg, with whom she has been collaborating for 20 years.
