Season 24/25
Opera, theatre and ballet: all three artistic genres are each celebrating a festival this season. The season begins with a dance festival in the foyer with experimental pieces centred around love - the motto of the second season of Adolphe Binder, Artistic Director and Curator of Ballett Basel. At the end of the season, the drama department declares the theatre an open space. Under the title 'Ode an die gewaltbereite Jugend Europas', plays and formats will shed light on the artistic and political positions of the younger generation. At the beginning of the season, the opera completes Wagner's 'Ring' with 'Siegfried' and 'Götterdämmerung'. And at the end, it presents the 'Ring' cycle in its entirety. Three times a season, our programme condenses into intense experiences. Immerse yourself!
The city in the theatre, the theatre in the city: the summer foyer of the Theater Public welcomes you from 20 August on the Theaterplatz and in the Alte Billettkasse. The town twinning between Basel and Yopougon will be honoured with a special programme on 12 October. And at the end of May 2025, together with the Basel Sinfonietta, we will be singing the praises of Basel's football history in Moritz Eggert's 'Football Oratorio' and opening a door to the Women's European Championship, which begins in Basel in summer 2025.
