Roderick
Shaw Conductor

Roderick Shaw was born in England and played piano and horn from an early age. He later studied organ, harpsichord and musicology at Cambridge University, where he also directed the Jesus College choir and the University orchestra. At the same time he became very active in the early music revival as a member of the Academy of Ancient Music under Christopher Hogwood. He continued his studies in conducting and baroque performance at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Roderick subsequently formed his own chamber choir and orchestra in Amsterdam, The Academy of the Begynhof, which he directed for twelve years in concerts and recordings. This resulted in several internationally acclaimed CDs of music by Purcell. In Germany, Roderick is currently pursuing a varied career as a conductor, harpsichordist and pianist with leading orchestras such as WDR Sinfonieorchester, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, DSO Berlin and Bayerische Staatsorchester in Munich. Moreover, he is much in demand as a chamber music partner, accompanist and vocal coach.
