Two rulers planning their wedding, four confused young lovers, a quarrelling fairy king and queen, a mischievous supernatural creature and theatre-loving craftsmen – the characters in the enchanted woods surrounding ancient Athens have been igniting the imagination of theatre-makers and audiences for centuries. Shakespeare's classic deals with the question of what is illusion and what is reality: Which feelings are real? Antú Romero Nunes and the Basel company seek the answer in the play, in the as-if, in the theatre in the theatre in the theatre.
