Alex Fernandes est concepteur d'éclairage pour le théâtre contemporain et la performance et a reçu le Michael Northen Bursary en 2013. Parmi ses travaux figurent ‹DOMESTICA› (Battersea Arts Centre), ‹Swimming Pools› (Teatro de la Abadia), ‹Double Double Act› (Unicorn Theatre), ‹Système AI› (Sadler's Wells), ‹Minor Planets› (HAU Berlin), ‹Kim Kardashian› (Balé da Cidade de Palmas, Brésil), ‹Heartbreaking Final› (Wiener Festwochen et Centre Pompidou), ‹Two Billion Beats› (Orange Tree Theatre), ‹Paradise Now!› (Bush Theatre), ‹l'Addition› (Avignon International Festival), ‹A View from the Bridge› (Bolton Octagon, Chichester Festival Theatre, Rose Theatre Kingston), ‹The Beginning› (Staatstheater Mainz), ‹Ghosts of the Near Future› (Barbican Centre). Entre 2013 et 2016, il a été directeur technique de Forest Fringe et est actuellement directeur technique de tournée pour Forced Entertainment. ‹Die Glasmenagerie› est son premier travail au Theater Basel.
