A fugue of resistance and liberation
Powerful, tragic, and with bitter humor—Chilean director Manuela Infante stages a finely composed play with five women in which voices spread, change, and merge with each other in endless variations. A collective of fluid identities that spreads like wildfire. Manuela Infante unfolds a thought experiment about radical forms of self-defense and the spread of violence when it is made visible. What freedom arises when one escapes the normative assignments of identity?
The play is based on the story ‹Was wir im Feuer verloren› by Argentine author Mariana Enriquez. In the face of a series of femicides, more and more women decide to perform a ritual of self-immolation, inflicting burns on themselves that they later display in public. The movement spreads like wildfire. Society is at a loss: Who are they? What does their action mean? Is it a political movement, an act of revenge, or a mystical practice? Why are they doing this?
Women, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans, and agender people are welcome at this event.

A multi-layered, resonant evening of theater.
‹Was wir im Feuer verloren› is a parable of suffering and pain, but also joy, superbly acted, always with a strong commitment to female solidarity.
The situation is as spooky as it is absurdly funny.
We experience the imaginative and lively group performance of a female ensemble in a constantly changing stage world.
With a great female ensemble, it is both bitterly serious and hilarious.
Manuela Infante unfolds how fire works in her new theater work in the most artistic and impressive way.
