You can't get enough of the foyer of the Theater Basel: It stretches over several floors and is spanned by an impressive concrete canopy.

The public theatre café at the top of the foyer gives visitors a special view of the architecture. When the temperatures are inviting, you can also choose to sit on the terrace, in the direct neighbourhood of the Elisabethenkirche and the Tinguely Fountain.

If you take a seat in the café, you are right in the centre of the action. With a bit of luck, rehearsals, warm-up dances or reorganisations are taking place within sight. More

Of course, the main role here is played by the catering. In the theatre café, we serve refreshments and wake-up calls, sparkling and tasty treats, small and large snacks, as well as a daily changing lunch menu. We cook according to the motto 'totally local'. More

Lunch

Seasonal lunch menus (veggie or meat/fish) are served from 11:30 to 14:00 on Tuesdays to Fridays, including salad or soup. Sunday is sandwich day.

Menu

In between

A sandwich with beetroot carpaccio or would you prefer a piece of cake from Basel confectioner Beschle? Snacks and sweet treats are available around the clock.

Evenings

We don't offer an evening menu in the traditional sense, but various small snacks. On performance evenings, a selection of the menu can be ordered until after the final applause. This page provides useful information on the subject of catering for performance visitors: More

Theatre plate

If you book in advance, a seasonal hors d'oeuvre with soup and a drink awaits you before the performance. Bookable now for performances from 1 October 2024.

Ein Bild vom angerichteten Theaterteller

In addition to daily newspapers, reviews of current Theater Basel productions are available in the theatre café. Further reading - around 1,000 books! - await you in the Foyer Public library. More
