Sirenen

In ancient times, sirens were enchanting, often bird- or fish-like creatures with a female torso. They not only lured sailors to their doom with their beguiling songs. They also sang stories and told the world. «We know everything» they sang. They were complex, merciless hybrid creatures on the border between man and nature and possessed dangerous, mysterious powers. Today, sirens are mainly loud signals from police and fire engines or disaster warnings. With a Chilean-Swiss cast, Manuela Infante explores what the ancient sirens have to tell us about our world in a state of alarm.
