Queen in the dirt
Why does a poet move from West to East? Ronald M. Schernikau is gay and a communist. He lives in the Federal Republic of Germany and is determined to go to the GDR. His goal: to study at the «Johannes R. Becher» Literature Institute and become a citizen of the GDR. The evening follows in Schernikau's footsteps. Pointed, combative, silly, sublime - Schernikau masters the entire repertoire of literary expression. Gay fantasies mingle with political analyses. Classical meets camp. Glamour meets mourning. An evening about utopia, desire, freedom and above all: beauty.
Players from the Basler Compagnie read from the literary essay die tage in l., the monumental montage novel legende and previously unpublished letters by the poet. The Berlin musician Jens Friebe will play his own and other people's songs.
