Merken Dramaturgy

Kris Merken studied at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. Since 2009, he has worked internationally as a dramaturg with directors such as Boris Nikitin, Anna Sophie Mahler, Antú Romero Nunes, Zuleikha Chaudhuri and in collaboration with theatre collectives and artists such as Monster Truck, SKART, Infinite Souls and Mithu Sen. In 2015, he held the KHOJ Artists Association Residency in New Delhi. A year later, he was a participant in the BangaloREsidency of the Goethe Institut in Bangalore. In 2018, he received the research scholarship of the city of Frankfurt am Main. In the winter semester 2017/18, he held a lectureship for the master's programmes Dramaturgy and Comparative Dramaturgy and Performace Research at the Institute for Theatre- Film- Media Studies at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Since the 20/21 season he has been dramaturg in the drama department at Theater Basel.
