Chief Conductor of the Basel Symphony Orchestra since the 2016/17 season Ivor Bolton is one of the most respected conductors of the baroque and classical repertoire. For example, he recorded a critically acclaimed series of Bruckner symphonies with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, of which he was principal conductor for 12 years. At the Teatro Real in Madrid, he was awarded the prize for best musical direction at the 2022 Premios Ópera. Ivor Bolton is honorary conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, principal conductor of the Dresden Festival Orchestra, and has enjoyed a close relationship with the Bavarian State Opera since 1994. He was awarded the Bavarian Theater Prize for his outstanding work in Munich. The Briton has also been musical director of English Touring Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera and principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He has had further opera engagements at Covent Garden, English National Opera, Bologna, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Hamburg and Sydney. Orchestral engagements have taken him to the BBC Proms and Lincoln Center New York, as well as concerts with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris.
