Delia Mayer, actress and singer, born in Hong Kong and raised in Zurich, now lives in Zurich and Berlin. She studied drama and singing in Vienna, New York, London and Zurich (masterclasses in opera and classical singing, coaching with Prof. Elisabeth Glauser and Margarete Honig). Delia migrates between serious and popular music, theatre, music theatre and cinema, her engagements have taken her to Wiener Burgtheater, Theater an der Wien, Ruhrtriennale, Theater Carré Amsterdam and Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. She has collaborated with Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester conducted by James Gaffigan (‹Die sieben Todsünden› by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht) and Bergische Symphoniker, to name but a few. As a singer and songwriter, she performs her own programmes, has released the album ‹These Days› and contributed to various cinema soundtracks, including for films by Doris Dörrie and Rolf Lyssy. In the 2019/20 season, she played Claire Zachanassian in ‹Besuch der alten Dame› at Luzerner Theater, and first appeared at Theater Basel in 1999 in George and Ira Gershwin's ‹Cheese – Strike up the Band› (directed by: Stefan Bachmann). Until 2018, she was Swiss detective Liz Ritschard in the crime series ‹Tatort› and is currently on screens as Miriam Shapiro in the Emmy-winning Netflix series 'Unorthodox', directed by Maria Schrader.
