Alice Gartenschläger studied dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen from 1993 to 1997. This was followed by an engagement with dancers of Pina Bausch in the Thomas Duchatelet company and Kiyomi Ishida at the opera in Lille and other stages in France. She then became a member of the ensemble of Tanztheater Joachim Schlömer at Theater Basel. From 2007 to 2011, Alice was a guest at Theater Freiburg. Since 2001, she has been working as a freelance dancer and choreographer together with various directors and choreographers, for example Graham Smith, Sebastian Nübling, Tom Schneider, Sebastian Hartman, Felizitas Brucker, Alexander Nerlich and Stefano Di Buduo. And since 2016, she has been a member of the LaPerformance company, directed by Julie Jaffrennou. Alice received funding from the Federal Association of Dance in Germany (Tanz/Dis-Tanzen 2022), which resulted in the film ‹nouvelle routine›. She also began working as a Shiatsu practitioner in Freiburg im Breisgau in 2017.
