Pavel Valuzhin is a Belarussian tenor who studied singing in his home town of Maladzechna and at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in Saint Petersburg. From 2013 onwards, he was a member of the Young Artist Program at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he became a permanent ensemble member in the 2016/17 season. During his time there, he sang Rodolfo in ‹La Bohème›, the Duke of Mantua in ‹Rigoletto› and Lykov in ‹Die Zarenbraut›, among various other roles. He made his German debut in ‹Rigoletto› at Deutsche Oper in Berlin. This was followed by Lenski (‹Eugen Onegin›) at Opéra de Toulon, Rodolfo at Semperoper Dresden and the Duke of Mantua at the Bregenz Festival. He also appeared for the first time as Rodolfo at the Royal Danish Opera. Further, he made a guest appearance as the Duke of Mantua at Volksoper Vienna. Since the 2018/19 season, Pavel has been an ensemble member of Stuttgart State Opera. At Theater Basel, he made his European debut in 2017 as Alfredo in ‹La traviata› and returns as the Duke of Mantua in the new 2023 production of ‹Rigoletto›.
