Thomas Herzog studied percussion, composition and conducting, and has been the musical director of more than a dozen productions at Theater Basel. As a ballet conductor, he is a recurring guest at the Semperoper Dresden and the Budapest State Opera. Herzog recently made his debuts with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra at the Opéra national du Rhin and with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. For over 15 years he has been closely associated as a regular guest conductor with the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen, the philharmonic Orchestra de Montevideo and the symphony orchestras in Miskolc, Szeged and Szombathely in Hungary. With the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Chamber Orchestra, Herzog has realized a wide variety of educational projects, including world premieres and CD recordings. From 2002 to 2018 he conducted the traditional New Year's Eve concert of the Basel Festival Orchestra. He has been invited back to the German State Philharmonic Orchestra Rheinland-Pfalz, the Hungarian Radio Orchestra Budapest, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the Cluj State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the Cairo Opera House.
