The Kammerorchester Basel is firmly anchored in Basel - with its two subscription series in the Stadtcasino and in Don Bosco - and tours worldwide with more than 60 concerts per season. Honoured in 2019 as the first orchestra to receive a Swiss Music Prize, the Kammerorchester Basel is characterised by excellence and versatility as well as depth and stamina, as in the long-term project 'Haydn2032' under the direction of Principal Guest Conductor Giovanni Antonini and together with the ensemble Il Giardino Armonico. Since the 2022/23 season, the Kammerorchester Basel has dedicated itself to all the symphonies of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy under the direction of early music specialist Philippe Herreweghe. The Kammerorchester Basel works with selected soloists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Franco Fagioli, Isabelle Faust and Kristian Bezuidenhout, and under the artistic direction of the concertmasters and the baton of selected conductors such as Nodoka Okisawa, Heinz Holliger, René Jacobs and Pierre Bleuse. The concert programmes range from early music on period instruments to historically informed interpretations and contemporary music. A core element of the orchestra's work is its forward-looking outreach activities. An extensive, award-winning discography documents the artistic work of the Kammerorchester Basel.
