Clamer Actor

Raphael Clamer comes from Basel and studied at the Neue Münchner Schauspielschule from 1993 to 1996 after abandoning his training as a helicopter pilot. This was followed by guest engagements at various German theatres. In 1998 he made his debut at the Opernhaus Zürich in Carl Maria von Weber's 'Oberon, oder der Schwur des Elfenkönigs' as Oberon (actor) in Johannes Schaaf's production. This was followed by several years of permanent engagements at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Schauspielhaus Zürich under the artistic direction of Christoph Marthaler. Since then Raphael Clamer has worked as a freelance actor for theatre, film and television and as a narrator for radio plays and audio books.
He has performed at the Burgtheater Wien, the Ruhrfestspiele, the Wiener Festwochen and the Theater Basel, among others. Raphael Clamer works regularly with Christoph Marthaler, including in 'Platz Mangel', 'Das Theater mit dem Waldhaus', 'Riesenbutzbach', 'La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein', 'Papperlapapp', '±0 - Ein subpolares Basislager', 'Das Weisse vom Ei', 'Isolde's Abendbrot'. Since 2013 he has had a close collaboration with the Berlin opera company Novoflot. Raphael Clamer is on tour with two creations by Philippe Quesne: 'Farm Fatale' and 'Cosmic Drama', which was created at the Theater Basel. He has also worked with Luc Bondy, Herbert Fritsch, Jan Bosse, Andreas Kriegenburg, Isabel Osthues, Christiane Pohle, Stefan Pucher and Christina Rast, among others.
