The creative production centre of Kalasri has been located in the heart of Basel for half a century. The Swiss-Indian artist family Keshava Jenny, deeply influenced by their dance art Bharatanatyam, has been making a major contribution to artistic diversity and cultural exchange in Switzerland since 1976. In its latest theatre production ‹Kala Chakra› (Wheel of Time), the Kalasri Dance and Music Ensemble brings elements of traditional and experimental dance productions to life. Dance, music, mythological and biographical narratives interweave to form a mosaic that traces the artists' path - a journey through time, space and identity. ‹Kala Chakra› is a tribute to the unifying power of art. An invitation to experience, feel and celebrate art together across generations and cultures.
In addition, there will be an accompanying exhibition entitled ‹50 Jahre Kalasri› from January 07.–20.01.2026, during the opening hours of the Foyer Public, curated and designed by Barbara Piatti & Cedric Kegreiss.
